If you are one of the 13 million IBS sufferers here in the UK, then I am sure you are trying to find ways and solutions to help assist you during your flare ups.
Follow our step by step IBS treatment plan.
(Please note this treatment plan is a natural approach to health, you should always discuss any changes in your diet or health with your GP first).
Step 1:
Identifying the flare ups.
We recommend using a food and mood diary to monitor how your gut responds to certain foods in your diet. You can download our food diary here on Google Docs. Please be sure to download the document, as it is a shared file online.
For one week eat your normal diet. Write down exactly what you are eating and when. At the end of the day, write up how your gut is feeling. If you are showing symptoms of IBS, then it could be down to something you have eaten that has triggered an IBS response.
Step 2
After the week, see if there are any patterns in the food groups or types of food you are eating. If so, then remove the foods and complete the process in Step 1 again. If you are struggling to find the foods/drinks that could be a trigger for flare ups, then we recommend fasting.
Step 3
Fasting is great and you can use bone broth for your fast. Some people choose to do a three-day fast, although three-days can be a long time, so if you are not used to fasting then try a one-day fast first. Avoid all food and include only bone broth for that time. Have multiple cups of bone broth throughout the day and ensure that you are resting during this time, as you may find your energy levels waiver. Furthermore, be sure to get a good night sleep.
Step 4
After fasting, reintroduce foods into your diet. Go back to Step 1 and complete your food and mood diary, be sure to keep trigger foods out of your diet, and record how you are feeling daily.
Step 5
Be sure to include kefir water and bone broth daily in your diet and keep gluten and dairy to limited. Feed your gut with lots of nutritious vegetables and low sugar fruits.
